Kara & Pasquale – Bali Hai Wedding Photographer – San Diego
We always love the chance to photograph weddings in San Diego. This was our first wedding at the Bali Hai. This famous restaurant is located right on the water on Shelter Island. We loved the 1960’s island vibe! It felt like we were in Waikiki! The couple had rooms nearby at Humprey’s Half Moon Inn. We met up for some quick getting ready photos and their first look. Afterwards, we all walked over to the venue to get all of the family formals out of the way.
The Bali Hai restaurant has an incredible view of the San Diego skyline. The ground floor is dedicated to the wedding reception and cocktail hour. They have an area off to the side the overlooks the harbor for the ceremony. After the ceremony, guests hung out in the cocktail area while we walked along the harbor for some photos with the couple. It started to sprinkle so we ran back to the venue. As we returned, an amazing rainbow appeared for about 15 seconds! This was the first time in 17 years of photographing weddings that we actually caught a rainbow with the bride and groom!

How did you two meet?
K + P met on the east coast. Pasquale was captain of a research vessel and Kara was a deep sea archaeologist. (for real!)
