We wanted to do something new and exciting for the kids this past Easter. Easter baskets and colored eggs just wasn’t doing it for us- so we stepped up our game! Brian found a farm out in Chino Hills that raises ducks, chickens, and pigs. The problem was, we didn’t want to actually keep the ducks when the mini session ended. We asked if we could rent them for a day and they were good with that! The ducks were such a hit with the kids! From 1 to 16 years old, everyone was in love with these cute little things. We built three sets to choose from but most people wanted the clean white background. The sessions started at 9AM and went all the way until 4pm. Judging by the response, I’m pretty sure we will be doing this again next spring!

Gilmore Studios has been a Costa Mesa Kid’s Photographer since 2003.

Mini Sessions at Gilmore Studios

Mini’s sessions are 15 minute sessions typically done here at the studio. They are planned around Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, summer, back to school, etc. We try to change up the scenes every year. For Christmas 2017, we have an amazing announcement- stay tuned!

How do you prepare to say goodbye for two years?

This family has six boys, and one was about to leave for Finland on his mission. They scheduled this session a few weeks before he left, knowing how important it was to have everyone together in one place before such a big change.

These are the photos that hold so much weight later on. Not because everything is perfect, but because everyone is there. If you are heading into a season of transition, this is your reminder to pause and document it.

The power was out in the church during this baptism, which made everything feel quieter and more intentional. Just family, faith, and a moment that truly mattered. Sometimes simplicity has a way of stripping things back to what is most important.
