Why the Newport Pier is a Dream Location

The Newport Beach Pier offers a blend of scenic and playful backdrops in one location. It feels alive but still relaxed, which helps families feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Families love this location because
a. The pier structure adds depth and visual interest.
b. The wide open beach gives children room to explore.
c. Golden hour light reflects beautifully under the pier.
d. The backdrop feels both classic and modern.
e. Tide variations add mood and texture to every gallery.

It is one of the most photogenic beach spots in Orange County.

Capturing True Personality and Connection

Your session should feel fun, simple, and effortless. We focus on real interactions instead of stiff posing so your images feel natural and emotional.

Expect moments like
• Walking together along the shoreline
• Playing in the water or splashing near the waves
• Cuddling under the pier
• Genuine laughter and movement
• A mix of posed and candid portraits

This balance creates a full, storytelling gallery your family will treasure.

Golden Hour Under the Pier

Golden hour at Newport Beach Pier is breathtaking. As the sun gets lower, it creates warm, soft light and dramatic shadows under the structure. The glow reflects off the water and sand, giving your portraits depth and richness.

The pier becomes a natural frame for your images, making sunset the ideal time for your session.

What to Wear for Portraits at the Newport Beach Pier

Wardrobe choices should blend with the natural beach tones while complementing your family’s style.

Clothing ideas
• Soft neutrals like cream, sand, fog blue, or sage.
• Flowy dresses for moms that move with the ocean breeze.
• Linen shirts or light sweaters for dads.
• Simple cotton dresses or neutral shorts for kids.

Where to shop

Avoid loud prints or neon colors that clash with coastal tones.

Make It a Family Night Out

After your session, enjoy a meal together at one of the many great restaurants near the pier. Here are some favorites that pair perfectly with a beach evening.

1. The Crab Cooker
Iconic seafood with a casual beach town feel.

2. Fly N Fish Oyster Bar and Grill
Fresh seafood right next to the pier.

3. The Blue Beet

We are on Instagram
Two years old looks very different than one, and that is exactly why it matters.

By age two, their personality is fully showing up. The expressions, the movement, the little quirks that disappear before you even realize it. These sessions are less about props and more about capturing who they are becoming. Let us know if you want to book a studio session today 💕
How do you prepare to say goodbye for two years?

This family has six boys, and one was about to leave for Finland on his mission. They scheduled this session a few weeks before he left, knowing how important it was to have everyone together in one place before such a big change.

These are the photos that hold so much weight later on. Not because everything is perfect, but because everyone is there. If you are heading into a season of transition, this is your reminder to pause and document it.
Have you documented this stage yet?

Sitting up sessions are one of my favorites. We started with family, then slowed things down and focused on baby’s expressions and personality. Simple backgrounds, no distractions, just this moment in time.
Have you ever noticed how the most meaningful moments don’t need much at all?
The power was out in the church during this baptism, which made everything feel quieter and more intentional. Just family, faith, and a moment that truly mattered. Sometimes simplicity has a way of stripping things back to what is most important.
Who says Christmas photos have to be serious?

This family showed up in red, brought the energy, and leaned fully into the fun. The funny poses, the laughs, and the personalities are exactly what made this session feel so them. These are the photos you smile at every time you walk by them.
