Construction Theme Cake Smash – Boy’s 1st Birthday

Digging into Fun: A One-Year-Old’s Construction-Themed Cake Smash at Gilmore Studios

At Gilmore Studios in Orange County, CA, we recently had the pleasure of capturing a milestone moment for a little boy’s first birthday. The theme? A construction site, perfectly designed for our one-year-old client to dig right into his cake smash experience.

Our studio was transformed into a mini construction zone, complete with toy trucks, yellow caution signs, and a custom-made cake featuring a digger on top. The backdrop set the stage for a fun and memorable session that perfectly matched the birthday boy’s energy and curiosity.

From the moment he saw the cake, his eyes lit up, and he knew exactly what to do. With tiny hands, he eagerly dug into the cake, mimicking the construction vehicles surrounding him. The bright yellow and orange tones of the setup added a vibrant touch, while the little one’s smile brought the entire scene to life.

Every detail was thoughtfully planned to ensure the session was both fun and safe. The cake, designed to look like a construction site, was soft and easy to smash, allowing the birthday boy to fully enjoy the experience without hesitation. The toy trucks and signs not only added to the theme but also kept him entertained throughout the session.

At Gilmore Studios, we love celebrating these big milestones with our clients. This construction-themed cake smash was a joy to photograph, capturing the innocence, excitement, and pure joy that comes with turning one. These moments are more than just photos; they’re memories that families will treasure for years to come.

If you’re looking to celebrate your little one’s big day with a unique and fun cake smash session, Gilmore Studios is here to bring your vision to life. Whether it’s a construction theme or something entirely different, we’re ready to create lasting memories that you’ll cherish forever.

What actually happens during prom photos 👀
Here’s how to instantly make your prom photos look better:
• Don’t stand stiff
• Keep movement in the poses
• Relax your hands and shoulders
• Stay close together in couple photos
• Laugh, talk, and i
That’s what I’m guiding the entire session.
Because the best prom photos don’t always happen from perfect posing...
They happen when everyone finally relaxes and starts having fun. #

If younger me could see the amount of emails, sessions, editing, timelines, client calls, blogs, courses, and random to-do lists now… she’d be SHOCKED. 😅

I started Gilmore Studios in 2002 with no roadmap. Just a camera, a love for photography, and honestly… a huge love for the business side of it too.

Since then, I’ve photographed so many stages of life:
weddings, newborns, seniors, cake smashes, families, commercial shoots, events… and somehow many of those clients became lifelong friends along the way. 🤍

What started as “I think I want to do photography” turned into over two decades of documenting people’s biggest moments and helping other photographers grow businesses of their own.

And honestly?
I still love it just as much.
