San Diego engagement photographer – Coronado Island

Jillian and Colin’s engagement session is another of our favorites. We loved it so much we hung two of their photos in our studio! We also loved being able to travel out to San Diego/Coronado Island to meet them.

The session started at their home on Coronado Island. It was the perfect way to capture them in their first home together (with their cats!), and also the beach they live near. Next, we headed to the cliffs – a secret spot in San Diego that they love. We followed them there and were amazed at how breathtaking the sunset was.

Part of planning for engagement sessions with our couples is filling out a bride and groom questionnaire. This helps us know more about them, their personalities, and what they love, and capture it in their photos. We loved some of the answers Jillian and Colin gave us:

What do you like to do for fun?

Since both of us have busy schedules we do a lot of hanging out at home – because time off is hard to come by in hockey. Colin loves to surf and Jillian enjoys pilates. We love to go on all different kinds of hikes.

What is your favorite date you have had together?

Our favorite date would have to be our 2 year anniversary when out of the blue we decided to go to Vegas for literally one night. We drove up, had a yummy dinner at Olives at Bellagio (possibly 2-3 bottles of wine) then after dinner we went and saw “O” by Cirque Du Soleil (trying to keep our eyes open cause we might have had too much to drink) – we were laughing so much our stomachs hurt. then we walked the whole strip after the show (he might have had to give me a piggy back ride, my feet started to hurt)(and mind you our anniversary is in July so it was nice and hot) – we then got up and left the next morning. It was perfect and so much fun!

What is your favorite quality about her?

My favorite quality about Jillian is her ability to love unconditionally. Her actions truly speak louder than words, and her positivity is inspiring. Jillian can light up a room with her smile and energy. She is my support system and my best friend.

What is your favorite quality about him?

I love how he will always give 110% to anything he does and never gives up; he is very thoughtful in the fact that he puts you before him; and loves my cats.

They will be getting married at the Rancho Valencia Resort (ranchovalencia.com) and, if their engagement pictures turned out this beautiful, we can’t wait to see how the wedding photos look!
