Orange County Senior Portrait Photography
Karyssa rocked her senior portrait session at the Back Bay! The yellow flowers are starting to bloom all over the place (which always look amazing in photos!) There are so many great choices when it comes to locations for Orange County Senior Portrait sessions. The Newport Beach Back Bay is one of our favorites during this time of the year! Most of our seniors from out of state choose the beach, which is only 10 minutes from this location.
10 Fun Facts about the Newport Beach Back Bay
- The Back Bay is a 1000 acre Nature Preserve and Ecological Reserve in Newport Beach, CA.
- It connects the upper Newport bay to Newport Harbor.
- 80 species of fish and 200 species of birds live in the area.
- The Santa Ana River formed the Back Bay over many years.
- Native American Indians lived in this area as far back as 9,000 years ago!
- In 1870, a steamship used the Back Bay to deliver lumber to new settlers in the area. This is how “New Port” got it’s name.
- The area was used for a salt factory from 1930-1969 when it was destroyed by a flood.
- Work to restore the area began in the 1970’s.
- Destined to become a water skiing area, locals fought in court for 10 years and got it stopped.
- In the 1980’s the Back Bay would be considered an Ecological Reserve and protected.
