Turnip Rose Promenade Wedding Photography
Leigh and Troy are such a sweet couple! After a lot of long distance planning from New York, we finally got to meet them in person on their wedding day. We always get excited when we find out we are photographing a Turnip Rose Promenade wedding! First, it’s only a mile away from us, but also because we have known a lot of their staff for years. The coordinator, Barbi is always great to work with and we appreciate her always keeping things on track!
This wedding started at the bridal suite inside the venue, which means we will be photographing the entire event there! We met up with the bride and her girls for the “getting ready” part of the day. We photographed all of the details and the girls getting ready for the big day. Next we met up with the boys in the groom’s boardroom! They were pretty much ready to go- so we got a few quick photos of Troy and then took him outside for the first look.
The first look is always our favorite part of the day. We found a nice and shady spot out on the lawn near the ceremony area that was perfect! Afterwards, we wandered around the grounds for some romantic portraits of the couple. When we got back, the wedding party and family members were ready for their photos. We were able to get all of the formals done before the ceremony- which is always amazing 🙂
Cocktail Hour and Reception
The ceremony was short and sweet! They mixed in Jewish traditions which was a very nice touch. After the ceremony, the gusts walk a short distance to the patio area for cocktail hour. We took the couple over to the vineyard since the sun was on it’s way down. The reception was inside and out, which is a great idea if you need more room for tables. The dance floor was right outside of the dining room doors, under the twinkling lights hanging overhead. It was really fun working with DJ Bruce Battleson again! He was awesome and kept the crowd moving all night. This party was perfect- there was so much love in the room after the touching speech by Troy’s cousin- who was the best man.

How did you meet?
We first met on a small mountain where both of us were enjoying a season of skiing and hiking.
The proposal:
We went to Pittsburgh for the weekend to see the Steelers play the Broncos. I proposed to her in Point State Park the night before the game!
About the Venue
Turnip Rose is one of the top catering companies in Orange County. If you don’t believe me, just try out one of their cafes in Costa Mesa! You won’t find mediocre wedding food coming out of their kitchen. We have photographed a lot of weddings at their venues over the years and can honestly say that their food is consistently amazing! Their team of wedding planners are also up there with the best. They have weddings down to a science, and deliver a high quality experience for a very reasonable price. They are also a family owned and operated business (which we absolutely love). The Promenade and Gardens is a hidden gem near Harbor Blvd and the 405 freeway in Costa Mesa. The site was originally a winery and even has a vineyard! They can facilitate intimate weddings of 50 guests or even large corporate events serving up to 750 people! This unique venue is in a commercial area so there is always plenty of parking and no noise restrictions.
