Turnip Rose Wedding – Promenade Gardens

Turnip Rose Wedding – Promenade and Gardens – Chris & Jann

The Turnip Rose (Promenade and Gardens) is a wedding/event facility right off of the 405 freeway and Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa, CA. The Turnip Rose is also a catering company and they have two cafes!

We have been photographing Turnip Rose weddings since 2009 and are preferred photographers on their referral list.

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends at a Halloween 5k run in Santa Monica in 2011. We reconnected on the dance floor at Andrea and Louie’s wedding in 2012. We’ve been together ever since…

The proposal…

In the summer of 2013, we sailed aboard a catamaran in the San Francisco Bay on a romantic sunset cruise. In every direction of the catamaran there were spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the beautiful lights of the City glimmering afar. As the sun started to set, I dropped to one knee, proposed to Jann and promised my love to her. After she said yes, I held her in my arms as we watched the sun set and sailed back to shore. This proposal would initiate an adventure of a lifetime with my best friend.

We are on Instagram
For her, this location means something to her.

This season is once-in-a-lifetime, full of faith, change, and new beginnings. And one day, these photos will mean even more than they do right now.

Always worth coming home for a quick session 🤍
You’re not the only one thinking that.

Almost every parent shows up a little nervous… wondering if their kids will smile, sit still, or even last through the session.

Here’s the truth 👇
They don’t need to.

The best photos never come from perfect behavior.
They come from movement, laughter, curiosity… all the in-between moments you can’t plan.

At Crystal Cove, we keep things relaxed.
We walk, we play, we let your kids be themselves.

And somehow, it always comes together.

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time”… this is it.

COMMENT [FAMILY41] FOR MORE DETAILS
You open Pinterest to look for cake smash inspiration and suddenly it’s an hour later, you have 47 saved pins, and you’re more confused than when you started. Choosing a theme for your baby’s first birthday session doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. And honestly, the most beautiful sessions I’ve photographed weren’t the most elaborate ones.

Let me share what I’ve learned after photographing so many of these sessions, message us for more details.
You’ve booked your senior session. You’re excited. And then… the panic sets in. What do I wear?

 I always recommend:

One casual or flowy look - a dress, a relaxed outfit, something you feel easy and comfortable in
One slightly elevated look - still natural, but a little more styled

That gives us variety without making the session feel rushed or stressful. More outfits don’t equal better photos. Two intentional choices are always more than enough.
Absolutely… and honestly, I love when they do.

Some of the sweetest moments happen before the cake even comes out, when siblings are laughing, helping, (or trying to sneak a bite early 😅).

It turns a birthday session into something even more meaningful… capturing their relationship right now, not just the milestone.

And those are the photos parents end up loving the most 🤍 shout out for a throwback to this session 💕
