Married in Newport Beach – Kim + Clark’s Wedding

Kim and Clark’s wedding was simple and beautiful! The couple was surrounded by close family and friends and it made the day so much fun for us. We have known the bride for a long time, so we had a lot of friends in the room as well! The morning started out at the Newport Beach Hyatt Regency. The couple had the largest suite in the whole resort! It even had a private backyard with a pool! One of the bridesmaids is a Hyatt coordinator and we have worked numerous weddings together. It was fun to see her in the wedding party for once!

After the first look and formal wedding photos, we drove down the street to the Balboa Yacht Club in Corona Del Mar. The ceremony was right on the water so it was only fitting that the boys would arrive on a boat! After the ceremony, the guests walked upstairs to the reception for a fun night of dinner, drinks, and dancing! Balboa Yacht Club Wedding Photographer for life!

From the bride…

How you two met in your own words:
Clark and I went to High School together and had mutual friends. Each time we hung out together through friends, we were always dating other people. (I always had an eye on him…) We went out one night with a friend (and were both single) and made out in a taxi cab on the way home from the bar. The rest is history!
In your own words…the proposal!
Clark proposed on Thanksgiving while my family and some friends were over. He pulled me outside and told me he was thankful for me. He then got on one knee. It was simple and special!
Check out Kim and Clark’s engagement photos in Balboa!

 About the Balboa Yacht Club

The Balboa Yacht club is a full service event facility complete with a wedding ceremony location, cocktail area, reception room, and top notch catering. This historic yacht club was founded back in 1922! Guests can wander around the property outside and get some fresh ocean air while sipping cocktails. The upstairs ballroom is decorated with nautical decor throughout. Most couples have their cocktail hour by the harbor during sunset. When the party is ready to start, there is a separate outdoor bar upstairs on a cute patio with modern outdoor furniture. The staff is courteous, professional, and willing to help solve any issues with a smile.

The secret to an stress-free session?
Choosing the right location.

This family had a party right after, so we kept everything simple and close. No extra driving, no rushing… just time together.

And it made all the difference.

If you’re planning family photos, I’ll help you choose a location that actually works for your day.

Send me a message and let’s plan it.
Three things every parent should know before sending their child on a mission.

First… this season is full of lasts.
But it’s also the beginning of a whole new life of firsts for them.

Second… saying goodbye at the airport is hard.
You prepare for it, you know it’s the right thing… but you still miss them more than you expect.
And suddenly, everything reminds you of them.

And third… P-days become the day you look forward to the most.
That one day a week when you get to hear their voice, read their messages, and feel connected again.

• Save this if you’re in this season 🤍
OR
• Send this to a parent preparing for a mission

It’s a big transition… for them and for you. #missionarymom #missionary #ldsmission
Turn your body slightly instead of facing the camera straight on.

Shift your weight to one leg, relax your shoulders, and bring your heads a little closer together.

Small adjustments like this make your photos feel more natural immediately.

Comment POSE if you want more simple tips.
In my experience, shooting during the first few weeks is ideal. During these early days, babies tend to sleep more and curl up in those naturally cozy positions we all adore in newborn portraits. Make sure to reach out and get on the calendar before the baby is born. We want to have some wiggle room with timing once the little one arrives.
The open environment at Back Bay invites your kids to explore, walk, and twirl safely. I’m there to guide you into natural poses, creating moments that are genuine rather than staged. The golden hour (right before sunset) is the best time for a session at this location.
