Big Canyon Country Club Wedding | Karen & Matt

Big Canyon Country Club Wedding – Karen & Matt

We were ecstatic to photographer Karen and Matt’s wedding at the Big Canyon Country Club! The Big Canyon Country Club is an exclusive “members only” country club right next to Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA. With beautiful golf courses and gorgeous scenery, the Big Canyon Country Club makes for an absolutely perfect wedding location!

Big Canyon Weddings

Karen & Matt had their entire wedding at Big Canyon. From the getting ready photos, through the ceremony on the green, to the reception in the ballroom! We loved the wine room reserved for Matt and the guys. The board room was set up for the girls complete with food and drinks for the group!

The First look

Brian and Matt headed outside the clubhouse for the “first look” (always our favorite part of the wedding day). Once he was in place, Jennifer and Karen went out to surprise the groom! This moment is reserved for the couple only. Some of the parents and bridal party watched through a nearby window.

Formal Photos

We spent the next hour with the couple cruising around the property and taking photos of the two of them. Next, we met up with the bridal party at the valet area for the group photos. Next, the immediate families arrived. We love getting all of the formal photos done and out of the way early!

Ceremony and Reception

One of our favorite things about Big Canyon Country Club weddings is right before the ceremony starts, the bridal party arrives on a caravan of golf carts! The guests look back to see the line of carts coming towards the ceremony site on the green. Matt’s sister officiated the wedding. This was her first time officiating and did a beautiful job! After the “I do’s” the guests walked back to the club house bar and outdoor patio for cocktail hour. Once all the details were in place and candles lit, everyone came inside to the ballroom for the reception.

Be sure to check out Karen & Matt’s engagement session at the beach in Corona Del Mar.

A little something I cooked up

24 years of weddings later and apparently I still haven’t gotten this photography thing out of my system

Honestly?
Wedding photography is basically part chaos, part storytelling, and part catching moments couples didn’t even realize were happening.

And somehow those always end up being the photos people love the most. 🤍

Brides…What’s the ONE photo you already know you want from your wedding day? OR the one photo you treasure from your wedding?
The NCL mother-daughter moments were EVERYTHING at the Rainbow Luncheon.

Watching these girls walk beside their moms with so much confidence, grace, and personality was honestly emotional to photograph.

Because behind every confident daughter is usually a mom who spent years showing up quietly in the background the whole way.

And somehow events like this make you realize just how fast it all goes.

To all the NCL moms:
you can truly see your love reflected in these girls. 🤍✨

Tag an NCL mom or daughter who’s been through this or has their moment coming soon.
They wanted additional photos at the beach, so we planned a separate session where they could slow down, be present and just enjoy being together without the structure of the wedding day timeline.#trashthedress #weddingday
After 6+ years of service, friendships, events, meetings, volunteering, and growing up together… getting to watch these NCL senior ticktockers have their moment on the runway felt really special. 🤍

You could see the confidence, personality, and excitement in every single one of them.

And honestly?
I think moments like this hit the parents even harder

Because suddenly the little kids you went to NCL events are young adults walking across a runway representing the organizations, brands, and people they’ve spent years supporting and learning from.

So proud of all of these incredible girls and everyone they represented ✨Props to JC Fashion Events for organizing an amazing fashion show.

NCL families, you are raising some truly amazing humans 🤍

“I know I should sleep… but the voices in my head go…” 👀

“Parents really don’t take enough photos once their kids become teenagers.”

I think this stage matters MORE than people realize.

Because this is the season right before everything changes.

Before college.
Before moving out.
Before life starts looking different.

And one day these stop feeling like “just senior photos”…

And start feeling like proof of what life looked like before they grew up. 🤍

Moms of teens… comment book to plan a session this summer!
